1. Why should I hire a company when I can try and do it myself?
You may be able to buy some of the products, but not the education or knowledge that a professional has! Plus, not all of the products Hulett uses are available to the public.
A Hulett professional knows the habits, life cycles, food preferences, and harborage areas of the pest he/she is treating.

A Hulett professional can tell the difference between the many insects that exist in Florida, and knows that each has its own prescribed methods of control.

A Hulett professional knows how to handle pesticides safely, when and where to apply them, and how much application is enough without the threat of exposure.
A thorough inspection by a Hulett professional can spot possible problems before they become serious and therefore limit the amount of pesticides that need to be applied.
A Hulett professional knows many non-toxic ways of managing an insect infestation; including habitat modification, exclusion techniques, the use of growth regulators and the proper use of baits.

2. Why should I choose Hulett?

3. How will the rain affect the spraying and fertilizing treatments?
Rain does not affect the application, and if anything actually helps activate the products. If you have a problem at anytime with your lawn, please don’t hesitate to call us and we will take care of it.

4. What are those brown spots on my lawn and what causes them?
There are a number of different reasons for brown spots, such as low watering, insects, disease, dog urine spots, etc. A trained Hulett professional can make an on-site inspection to identify your specific problem. This inspection is free and there is no obligation.

5. How can I tell if there are chinch bugs in my lawn?
Chinch bugs can actually be seen in the thatch layer. Adults are 1/5” long and black with white wings. Nymphs are bright red with a white band. Look in the thatch layer on the edge of where the green and brown grasses meet. A trained Hulett professional can make an on-site inspection to see if you have chinch bugs damaging your lawn. This inspection is free and there is no obligation.

6. My shrubs are not flowering, why?
This phenomenon could result from any number of different things such as sunlight, over watering, nutrient deficiency, insects, location, PH, plant depth etc. A trained Hulett professional can make an on-site inspection to identify your specific problem. This inspection is free and there is no obligation.

7. What causes fungus in my lawn and ornamentals?
Typically, stress from over-watering and/or poor drainage will lead to a fungus. Dull mower blades or short mowing can also cause fungus. Hulett will be happy to provide you with a watering brochure during our free inspection of your yard.

8. What is thatch?
Thatch is defined as an intermingled layer of dead and living shoots, stems, and roots that develops between the green vegetation and the soil surface. Thatch consists of a loosely interwoven collection of plant matter that imparts sponginess to the turf. A trained Hulett professional can show you if there is a thatch problem in your lawn during our free inspection of your yard.

9. What is the black film all over the leaves of my plants?
This could be the result of piercing-sucking insects that excrete a waste on to the leaf surface called honeydew. Then a fungus called sooty mold forms and feeds on the honeydew. This fungus detracts from the beauty of ornamental plants and reduces their photosynthetic activity. Hulett’s lawn service will help to control the insects that create sooty mold, and therefore help return the natural color of your plants and leaves.

10. Still have a question?
Couldn’t find an answer to your question? No problem! Our experts will address all of your concerns and questions, as well as recommend the lawn treatment that is right for you.
